Bruce Lee, the legendary martial artist and cultural icon, was known to wear a Seiko 6139-6010 automatic chronograph in the final years of his life. This watch has since become highly sought after by collectors and Bruce Lee enthusiasts alike.
East meets West: Bruce Lee, wearing his iconic Seiko 6139-6010, alongside John Saxon in 'Enter The Dragon' (1972).
The watch was first spotted on Lee's wrist in photographs from mid-1969, including at a National Karate Championship in Washington DC on May 10, 1969. This timing aligns with the early production of the 6139 model, which debuted in January 1969.
Lee's choice of the Seiko 6139 is noteworthy, as it was far from a cheap watch at the time. It retailed for around $200 in the early 1970s, a significant sum for a timepiece. The rally strap Bruce Lee used is particularly iconic, featuring oval-shaped holes that perfectly complemented the sporty chronograph design and Lee's bold 1970s style.

Today, the "Bruce Lee" Seiko 6139-6010 and its modern interpretations are highly prized by collectors. They represent not just a moment in horological history, but also Bruce Lee's enduring impact on popular culture and his role as a trailblazer for Asian representation in Western media.
The rally bracelet on Bruce Lee's Seiko is a defining feature that deserves closer examination. Vintage rally bracelets, like those found on both Seiko 6139-6010 and Seiko 6139-8020 models, are stunning in their appearance. However, they come with certain characteristics and challenges that are worth noting:
The two vintage Stelux Rally Style watch bracelets that Bruce
Lee likely wore with his Seiko 6139-6010.

intricate adjustment mechanism; resizing is challenging.
However, these vintage rally bracelets also had some significant drawbacks:
Despite these challenges, the rally bracelet's distinctive appearance and association with Bruce Lee's iconic Seiko have cemented its place in watch enthusiast culture.
Inspired by Bruce Lee's Seiko 6139-6010, modern rally watch bands have been reimagined for the 21st century. Unlike common OYS and JUB metal watch bands, these new rally bracelets offer a unique aesthetic while addressing the shortcomings of their vintage counterparts. Let's explore the modern versions that pay homage to this iconic design:

Dear BG,
Thanks for your inquiry. For fitting to the 6931-601X model with 19mm lugs, I recommend using a 19mm strap for the best fit. Modifying a 20mm strap by filing it down is possible but may affect the aesthetics and durability.
You can find a suitable 19mm strap here:

Please let me know if you need further assistance!

Any recommendation for fitting this to a 6931-601X models (19mm lugs)? Would buying the 20mm and filing .5mm off each side of the end link be viable?

What’s the point of going through the history of Bruce’s watch when your Rollball straps don’t actually fit a 6139 lugs??
